One of my favorite things about baking is trying to make something from ingredients I already have on hand. This week, case in point: an entire 1 lb. loaf of La Brea French bread. This is like winning the baking lottery.
Since Fabien is currently in France, I didn’t trust myself to make my favorite sweet bread puddings: Bread Pudding & Bread Pudding Loaf with Crème Anglaise. Bread puddings should be shared. And bread puddings, especially these, are too good to share.
So instead, I knew I could be trusted, with a savory bread pudding. Or so I thought.
Layers of bread, spinach (a whole 20 ounces worth!!) and cheeses are mixed with milk and eggs and then baked into this gorgeous brunch, lunch or dinner. Either a savory bread pudding or a strata, this is an ideal meal. That really should be shared.
