I asked Fabien, “Do you know what a blondie is?” He replied, “Someone blonde?” Logical, but incorrect. To anyone else not raised in the USA, or to anyone who has wondered what exactly qualifies as a blondie: it’s like a brownie but has no cocoa added. It’s essentially the base of a chocolate chip cookie, complete with brown sugar and vanilla. The beauty of a blondie is that it can be endlessly altered to fit your flavor and texture preferences. You can add chocolate chips, nuts, booze, fruit, etc. It’s a classic American dessert that can be easily made in very little time. This particular recipe uses one bowl, no electric mixer, and bakes within 20 minutes. God Bless America.
