I’m not much a pie person. So while pie season is upon us, I offer tarts such as Pear & Almond Tart, clafoutis such as Apple Clafoutis, and cakes, such as this one.
It’s a soft spice cake with little bits of apple throughout. The spices are complemented by a smooth cream cheese frosting both layered inside and on top of the cake.
If when you see a layer cake, you think, oh no way too fancy for me, think again with this one. It’s really simple to bake and requires nothing fancy when assembling. The sight of it will please your guests and take a simple spice cake to a much higher (literally) level.
