When I want to gift my Mom with something, it’s a massage.
When I want to gift my Mom something less expensive, it’s a mocha dessert.
Her first choice is always a mocha cream torte–that will probably be added to the blog next February, around her birthday.
Recently, I wanted to thank her and so I made a new mocha dessert: these teeny tiny mocha pot des crèmes. It’s essentially a custard/pudding hybrid. The primary layer is rich mocha custard and the top layer is a vanilla custard with a hint of espresso. The coffee really helps deepen the flavor of the chocolate. So if you’re a chocolate lover, this will be a very special treat for you.
They are perfectly petite for their rich decadence. They’re quite easy to make and even easier to eat. Needless to say, these now rival the mocha cream torte. We’ll see what happens when her birthday rolls around and the requests start coming in!
I’ve never seen anything like this, but I’d like to.

It’d be a fun one to try. No baking required. Just stovetop work and patience while it sets in the fridge. 🙂
