During the Fall, I have more apples than I know what to do with. My Mom’s generous green apple tree produces the perfect baking apples. Green, tart, and subtly sweet. At the same time each year, I make a variety of muffins, cakes, crumbles, and crisps. This year however, I wanted to try some new recipes. Welcome to the team, Dutch Apple Bread.
While having three different components, it impresses while remaining super easy to make, not even requiring an electric mixture. The bread has a moist and buttery crumb. And the apple shines with the help of cinnamon and some ginger. The streusel topping is the best part, though. Fabien often cuts a slice for himself, only to find that crunchy streusel lid is missing, because I’ve steadily peeled it off bit by bit as I stroll by the kitchen. How can you blame me? It’s finished with a vanilla glaze drizzle, making it nearly impossible not to pick at. Enjoy!
